Compeer is mental wellness through friendship. We match volunteers with a friend (MHA Client) who has mental or social health challenges.
Through Compeer calling and E-buddies, we intend to connect volunteers within our community with clients living with health challenges. These connections will involve a combination of regular phone calls, text messaging, or emails to provide a caring connection.
Supportive friendship can make a big difference in young lives. Our youth program intends to pair community volunteers with youth ages 5-21 living with mental health challenges. Volunteers and youth will spend four hours a month together taking in recreational and educational offerings and opportunities. Participating youth must be referred to the MHA through a mental health professional.
Our planned adult program will pair community volunteers with adults living with health challenges. The volunteers and adults will spend four hours a month together within the communities we serve such as museums, parks, music and art, cafes’ and restaurants. Participating adults are referred to the MHA by a mental health professional.
Our planned Veteran programming will pair Veteran volunteers with Veterans working through mental health challenges We plan to provide opportunities for Veterans to engage, network, and form friendships with other Veterans to re-establish camaraderie.
