Low Self-esteem Symptoms and How to Deal With Them

Low Self-esteem Symptoms and How to Deal With Them

Article by Eran Roseman

Self-esteem is one of the hallmarks of a happy person. If your self-esteem suffers so will other parts of your life. They are all interconnected in a symbiotic relationship and one cannot thrive without the other (happiness and high self-esteem). Some low self-esteem symptoms are easier to spot than others. Some are incredibly and even disturbingly easy to detect due to the nature of the symptom.

What are some low self-esteem symptoms?

1. Low self-esteem can manifest itself in actions like selfishness. When your self-esteem is low you find yourself grasping at straws to figure out your life. Self-esteem is important for happiness because high self-esteem basically means you have all your ducks in a row, you comprehend what you do and why you do it and you do it to help other people or to become a productive member of society.

If you have high self-esteem, selfishness is not often a part of it. There is a negative degree where confidence can appear as high self-esteem but in reality confidence is a spawn of high self-esteem and self-image, but high self-esteem doesn’t usually spawn from confidence- you need self-esteem to feel and act confident.

That brings us to the other thing you need to be aware of. Confidence can be faked for the purpose of manipulating someone- you can have low self-esteem and “look” confident because you can train body language and learn how to manipulate people and appear confident but it’s really an empty shell and you feel empty when you do this.

2. Low self-esteem can cause you to not see the full picture. If you don’t fully understand yourself or haven’t truly found yourself, you don’t know who you are, where you’re going, or you don’t have confidence in yourself- your very decisions will be made based on either partial information or a biased opinion that may be convoluted by your minds own filters (designed to protect you from doing something again but often we self inflict ourselves into a prison that contaminates the very way we think).

If you can’t comprehend the full picture or your selfishness in disposition or both, you will often act inappropriately and cause problems to magnetize towards you. Often people in this spot will have a warped sense of reality and that causes them to believe that they aren’t wrong- but everybody else is mistaken. Self-esteem tends to come with common sense, low self-esteem tends to give you a convoluted view of the world at large and especially the world you live in (your personal life).

3. Low self-esteem symptoms can be responsible for a lot of problems in your life. Low self-esteem can cause someone to desperately try to feel wanted and loved and this makes you do irrational things to get that attention. Having low self-esteem can make you paranoid and this can lead to a long list of problems from the way you react to people to how you react to people. People with low self-esteem tend to complain more, have a pessimistic view of the world, and it can make you feel crazy.

The bottom line here is that a high self-esteem is as healthy as exercising and eating right. Self-esteem is how you see yourself, how you believe your world is, and it can drastically affect the way you feel. High self-esteem leads to better relationships, a better more open-minded view of the world and everyone you come across, and even the confidence to get the job you want instead of staying at a job because you’re afraid to lose the job and fear you can’t get a better one. Someone with high self-esteem will tend to believe in themselves where as someone with low self-esteem usually doesn’t but mainly because they simply don’t know themselves enough (their core self not what others tell them they are supposed to be) to actually come to a rational decision about their abilities.

Panic Syndrome Symptoms and Phobias

Panic Syndrome Symptoms and Phobias

Article by Virgil Morris

Our bodies are “hard wired” to react to danger in what is referred to as the “fight or flight” response. When these responses are called into action when there is no actual danger it is called Panic Syndrome or panic attack.

The Symptoms of Panic Syndrome

The predominant symptoms of panic include a sudden onset of increased heart beat, pounding heart or palpitations, chest pain or discomfort. Also, there is often also a secondary fear of dying, losing control, or going crazy.

These symptoms may also indicate you are having a panic attack:

* Sweating* Shaking visibly * Choking sensations* Smothering or shortness of breath* Nausea, bloating, indigestion or abdominal discomfort* Fear of losing control or going crazy* Numbness or tingling sensations in face, extremities or body* Chills or hot flushes* Blushing or skin blotches* Urgently needing to urinate or defecate

If you are constantly worried, to the point that it affects your activities and your lifestyle, you my have “generalized anxiety disorder” or GAO. Anxiety is not tied to any specific circumstances or situations.

The biggest indicator of whether you have “generalized anxiety disorder, or having a panic attack, is how long your symptoms last – are they ongoing, or for only a short term. Another sign of panic attacks is if the attacks occur in specific situations, or when you have specific thoughts about something or someone, in which case you may want to seek treatment for phobias.

Phobias

Panic syndrome can lead to phobias if left untreated. Phobias are a type of anxiety about a specific object or experience, such as snakes, heights, flying, enclosed spaces, etc. It’s a phobia when you worry about it all the time, or thinking about it makes you miserable, or unable to function.

When it comes to treatment for Panic Syndrome most physicians will prescribe counseling and medication. These do work to limit the onset of attacks and the duration of the attacks but they do not cure the syndrome. The only treatment that seems to actually cure Panic Syndrome is a self-help technique called, anti-anxiety training. Which allows you to train yourself to recognize the symptoms of an oncoming attack and stop it before it gets started. Anti-anxiety Training has proven to be extremely effective and much cheaper than conventional therapy and medication.
